New series on the blog ! Occasionally, I would suggest you my best culinary addresses, classified by theme and regularly update. For the first one, discover my favorite places for a great lunch in the commercial district of Tenjin.

TAKAFUGU BAL MATSUURA (鷹ふぐバル松浦)
TAKAFUGU BAL MATSUURA, Fukuoka

Takafugu Bal Matsuura is the first place where I had lunch with my new co-workers. This restaurant, located in the "open" Izumi mall basement is nice with its quiet terrace and refined decoration. Very popular among women, Takafugu offers a different menu everyday, to choose between chicken, pork, beef, fish and pasta, accompanied by a all you can eat/drink salad, soup, beverage buffet. There is even a little dessert at the end ! Small non-negligible detail: the staff is really kind.

My favorite dish : the kaisendon menu : a rice bowl with some freshly fished to put on the top, everything in all you can eat. it is quite pricey (1800 yens) but it s really good.

Appeal point : dishes change everyday, following what were at the marcket on the morning.

ROJIURA SHOKUDÔ (ロヂウラ食堂)
ROJIURA SHOKUDÔ, Fukuoka

ROJIURA SHOKUDÔ, Fukuoka
Rojiura Shokudo is my favorite lunch place right now. This is a small canteen situated within the Oichika, a space gathering all kinds of restaurants in the basement of the large Parco store. The restaurant is very pleasant with light wood tables, yellow walls and there are plenty of magazines and books available. The bgm is a pleasant Jpop.
The cuisine is delicious. Everything is is from Fukuoka (vegetables) or Kyushu island (meat and fish) so it is really safe and in control.

My favorite dish : the 880 yens avocado and salmon rice bowl with onions, paprika and a soft boiled egg on the top.

Appeal point : rice, salad and miso soup are all you can eat (minus the donburi menus).

HOLE HOLE CAFE & DINER
HOLE HOLE CAFE & DINER, Fukuoka

HOLE HOLE CAFE & DINER, Fukuoka
Opened last September, the Tenjin Core shopping mall food court is lovely : all wood with comfortable sofas. It offers several restaurants but my preference goes to hole hole cafe & diner that serves a Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. The food is tasty, plentiful and served quickly. If the floor is crowded on weekends, there are very few people on weekdays : ideal for working on your computer or reading while eating.
My favorite dish : the delicious loco moco, 900 yens.

Appeal point : there is a free wi-fi connection

N43
N43, Fukuoka

N43, Fukuoka
N43 is located in a mall (again!) called Vioro and served divine eggs benedict. This is where I tasted this dish for the first time and I was hooked. The plates are full of food, there is a sober but nice decor but it can be a bit noisy depending on the number of customers. The service is very slow. Too bad that on my second visit the whole plate was served cold, I was very disappointed especially as it is pricey but keeping a memory of my first try, I still decided to add N43 in the list.

My favorite dish : eggs benedict plate, 1480 yens.

Appeal point : plates are full of varied food.

KANOYA BAR (カノヤバル)
KANOYA BAR (カノヤバル)

KANOYA BAR (カノヤバル)
The first thing that attracted me was the decoration : chalk drawings on the walls and  high tables placed decorated cans. I then studied the menu : meat from Kagoshima  served in several forms. The meat is tasty and well seasoned. Side dished are awsome too as with the great potato salad. The only bad point goes to staff who were not smily at all.

My favorite dish : the donburi (rice bwol) with a grilled Kagoshima wagyu (Japanese beef) steak, 880 yens.

Appeal point : decoration !

TENPURA NO HIRAO (天ぷらひらお)
TENPURA NO HIRAO (天ぷらひらお)

 TENPURA NO HIRAO (天ぷらひらお)
Hirao is for me the best place to eat tempuras in Fukuoka. I have no word except try them !
Be careful : now that the place was introduced on japanese national TV, it is very crowded with a wait of more or less 40 minutes.
My favorite dish : the vegetables menu at 670 yens.

Appeal point : the not fatty and tasty tempura, made as the order come.
